  跳舞

  中学 students may elect to participate in our dance program which provides avenues for 科技nical 和 creative development. 跳舞 is approached as a collaborative venture for students with an emphasis on interactive skills, 发现, 和勇气. We are pleased to offer ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, 和 modern 科技nique classes. As students become more advanced dancers, they take on choreographic aspects of performing.

  The 中学 musical production is one of the highlights of the year. Recent performances include: Once on this Isl和, Charlie Brown, The Wizard of Oz, Pirates of Penzance, 和 歌舞青春二世. All students are encouraged to take part in this all-division performance. We underst和 that not all students want to be on stage; 和 therefore, their energies are directed toward working on wardrobe, 科技, 宣传, 集设计, 和风景. Rehearsals for the musical are held outside the regular school day.

  表演艺术 in the 中学 offers five ensembles for students in grades five 和 six: 非洲音乐, 合唱, 管乐团, 吉他合奏, 与弦乐合奏. Students in grades seven 和 eight may choose from Advanced B和, 非洲音乐, 合唱, 吉他合奏, String Ensemble 和 Theater 艺术. All ensembles are grouped together as 5-6 ensembles 和 grades 7-8 ensembles. Concerts are held for all ensembles in December 和 May each year.

  Each student arrives as an artist, bringing a different level of experience 和 interests. Students strengthen their underst和ing of art 和 principles of design through a variety of media 和 study of the masters. 在很多情况下, art lessons are incorporated into the curriculum in classes like humanities where students learn about the African culture 和 its villages. Students demonstrate their artistic interpretations of the lesson by creating African masks in their art class.
